The Negev Desert
The Negev Desert is huge and vast desert that covers over half of all Israel. While a desert might not seem like the most hospitable or exciting place to visit, the Negev is a special place in Israel known for its beauty, history and unforgettable attractions and experiences.

Touring the Dessert
Arguably the most popular thing to do while visiting Negev is take a jeep or ATV tour which are offered by many companies. While taking a car or using the bus network is also possible, ATV or jeep tours will take you into more exquisite terrain giving you an unforgettable experience of your time in the desert. Having a guide with you can also be beneficial as you can learn more about the popular attractions such as the Dead Sea or the Ramon Crater.


Historical Sites
While you're in Negev, you should make sure to see at least one historical site. Masada is one of the most famous sites to stop at. This ancient Roman fortress is the biggest siege camp in existence today. It's well preserved and provides a stunning sunrise view. The easiest way to get to Masada is by tours which are available from Jerusalem.
You can also visit an ancient city in the desert. Shivta, for example, was part of the Nabatean Spice Route occupied by both Romans and Nabateans. The city itself was never conquered and thus it provides a unique experience for visitors walking through its ruins.


Other Experiences Not To Miss
Negev provides many other experiences as well. For instance, if you want to view the desert at a more leisurely pace you can opt for a camel ride or take a break at winery. If you're on the more adventurous side, perhaps you'll want to try sleeping in a Bedouin tent or go sandboarding on the dunes.
Regardless of the activities you choose, visiting the Negev desert offers is an unforgettable experience that something for everyone.
